Am I right that you want to set the field Check_Value to today's date if it is blank??

If so and check_value is a date then you will need to put this in the input translation:


@If(@IsTime(Check_Value);Check_Value;@Today)

To make this only happen when then document is being saved or mailed (and not refreshed) change the formula to this:

@If(@IsTime(Check_Value)|@IsDocBeingRecalculated;Check_Value;@Today)
